Production Fleeces - Our breeding objective

Our breeding Objective is to produce the highest quality production fleeces across the herd at fleece number 3, 6 and 9.

The more high quality production fleeces of an animal, the more economic the herd and industry

A definition of a high quality production fleece may vary over time, but at the moment we have used

 - Total Weight - 35% - how you get paid

 - Micron - 30% - top fleece grades <>

 - SD (Standard deviation) - 10% - approximates consistency

 - Comfort factor - 5% - reduces the scratchy big guard fibres

 - Curvature - 10% - measure of resilience in the fibres for machine handling

 - Length 10% - an important part of grade, and weight

EBV (Earned Breeding Value)

EBV (Earned Breeding Value) or Estmated Breeding Value is a tool used by many industries to make breeding selections against a Breeding Objective.

We are looking to improve the entire herds EBV over time by selective matings using superior males over ever improving females.

If your breeding Objective is aligned to our, then maybe our animals can help your herd on its way.

The EBV number doesnt mean anything itself, other than the higher the number the better against our breeding objective. We set ourselves a very high standard, using our Aussie import, Aviana Farms Snowflake, as our herd baseline. She scores 1000.
